MM treatment: now and in the future

There has been so much innovation in recent years with multiple myeloma (MM) treatments. And with many clinical trials underway, there’s even more to come.

Where are we now? Existing treatments

At this point, you may have already received treatment for your MM. It is important to be prepared and know what treatments may be available to you later in your journey.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation has a guide listing the current treatment options.

Current treatment guidelines

It’s a good idea to stay current on the latest treatment updates for MM.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) regularly updates their treatment advice. This offers both doctors and patients suggestions on what treatments to use and when.

Where are we headed?
New treatments are being studied in clinical trials all the time. If they are proven to be safe and effective, people could have yet another way to treat their MM.
Why does this information matter?
Reading about existing and emerging medicines can help you feel more prepared to talk about your treatment path with your doctor.
What questions should I ask?
The International Myeloma Foundation has a worksheet that can help you look at the past, present, and future of your treatment plan. You can print out and begin the worksheet at home and bring it with you to your next appointment. Your doctor can answer the remaining questions and help you finish it.
